PCSOs provide a high profile visible presence in and around residential, retail and business areas. They spend their time dealing with members of the public, building links with employers and business and community leaders and dealing with nuisance offences, vandalism or anti-social behaviour. With a salary of £16,000 to £19,000, this is a responsible role. They are expected to work shifts and to be flexible with their working hours to meet the needs of their local community.
